Black Out is a Black-led initiative dedicated to expanding access to Ballroom for Black trans, queer, and gender-diverse communities in Vancouver.
We believe Ballroom is more than a performance - it’s culture, community, and a means for survival. Our goal is to provide access to cultural knowledge, support networks and community through Ballroom to Black folk in the Greater Vancouver Area.
-
Through open sessions, educational programming, mentorship, and community events, we are building a sustainable pipeline for Black people to enter, participate in, and thrive within Ballroom.
-
Our vision is a Ballroom where Black folk can be seen, supported, celebrated, and connected to a thriving community
